RETRO SCI-FI IN THE STYLE OF EARLY LEM

The Behemoth V, a heavy space freighteren route from Mars to Jupiter, unexpectedly veers off course and stumbles upon the Astromancer, hidden in the asteroid belt: the Flying Dutchman of the void, the legendary source of impossible inventions and mad art. The deviation fromcourse, however, was no accident: someone had sabotaged the on-board computer.

As they delve into the insane labyrinths of the Astromancer, the crew of the Behemoth descend into paranoia – everyone suspects everyone else. Machine chaos infects human minds. What awaits them at its epicentre?

Is there a limit to progress? Or for any given technological civilisation, is it possble to imagine one even more advanced? Are there discoveries that can not be reached through logical reasoning, but only wrested from chaos? Boltzmann’s Brains are intelligent beings that arose not through evolution or design, but spontaneously from chaos. This is a story about one of them.
