Ice - the English translation of Jacek Dukaj’s acclaimed Polish science fiction novel Lód is shortlisted for the2026 British Book Award in the Science Fiction & Fantasy category.

The acclaimed novel Ice/Lód has been translated by Ursula Phillips and published by Head of Zeus in November 2025.

The British Book Awards, also called the Nibbies, “celebrates the intimate connection between the books, their makers and their audience” with nominees in a variety of categories. Winners will be honored on May 11.

The 2026 is the first year the Science Fiction& Fantasy category has been included in the Nibbies. Ice is competing against The Devils (Joe Abercrombie), Brimstone (Callie Hart), Katabasis (R.F. Kuang), Alchemised (SenLinYu), and Onyx Storm (Rebecca Yarros).

Ice is also noted for being nominated for the 2025 BSFA Awards (Best Novel), with the cover art by Yehrin Tong also receiving a nomination.
